Hello there you.
Last night the two of us got together with the purpose of reigniting the flame under the bonnet of the good ship Barricades. Even though we've played a few gigs over the summer and met loads of times, we have yet to sit down and actually come up with new music so last night was a magnificent achievement.
We married a few older tunes together, jammed on song's we've quite blatantly ripped off (inspired by I like to say) and generally started to put the pieces together of what the band was a year ago. In little over an hour we had the basics of my tune No Rope (demo here) down and tried to add bits and pieces to it. We'll be focusing on this tune and probably remoulding an older tune of ours in the coming weeks. We also discussed the annual Christmas tune we do (any suggestions? tweet us!)
One major change in the way we work is that the studio in JC's house has had a bit of a makeover. Gone is the PC and a brand new shiny Mac has arrived. With this comes the challenge of learning brand new software to record on. I personally, even with the PC software, tend to sit and do a one-man-and-his-guitar session to get my demos down super quick then when we come to record them fully, JC takes the hotseat, with me more sorting the arrangements. Some might say Jonathan is the engineer and I am the producer. Well, I say it.
Anyway, we've yet to record as last night was more jamming, learning No Rope and organising our schedules and desires. We're aiming for one session a week at the moment to test the waters.
With this, we'll update the blog a lot more than we have been doing.

Studio. Not ours.
