Last year we won a battle of the bands competition and the prize was to play the Glastonbudget festival, billed as Europes biggest tribute act festival. It was an absolute shambles and a discrace. We were told we could play around 6pm and also 12pm. We hung around from 2 and were told around 5.50 that we were only playing at 12pm. Great. The acoustic tent emptied by the hour so the thought of playing to no-one was pretty annoying. However, at 11 when the main stage closed, every person from there crammed into the tent with 500+ inside, just at the point they decided to take the PA away, as someone the previous night complained it was too loud. Yes, at a music festival. We were furious and I in no uncertain terms told them where to go. This year we were asked to play it again, and stupidly agreed on one condition, we could headline.
We were assured we could headline the Saturday night, which is this weekend. A couple of days ago we were then told we we not actually headlining but playing between 8 and 9 right at the time when the tent is emptiest. I was pissed off, but agreed as we had decided to make a weekend of it anyway. Yesterday we received a call to say someone else had been promised that slot and the only other slot was 3-4pm. With absolute certainty and without question we pulled out, telling them again, how unprofessional, shambolic and disrespectful they had treated us, seeing as we were the second acoustic act confirmed for the festival, over 3 months ago.
We received another call minutes later saying they had moved the Saturday headline act (1am-2am) to Sunday and if we could play that slot as it was free now. We told them to screw it.
The fact that we were told we could headline then couldn't a few days before the festival should have thrown up a red light. One thing I can say about the festival is that, out of all gigs from tiny little toilet sized venues to huge outdoor festivals, this is the worst experience we have ever had, and we had it twice.
DO NOT EVER GET INVOLVED WITH THESE CHEATING, LYING, UNPROFESSIONAL PEOPLE.
I'm glad I got that off my chest
